by sigmazero13 This game definitely favors the attacker; turtling is very hard, and the best defense is to go on the offense to keep your opponents forces small.

by Dweeb Yes, "Turtling" is very tough. Note that you can use a stronghold to help defend an area. The Banners of War expansion adds a couple of more defensive options.
