Yeah I also feel it doesn't need another expansion, but that's not to say I wouldn't support a new one.I'm also of the opinion that the game is fine with the 4 existing factions and 4 player cap, no need to add more.
We have some Orc heroes, I'd say add some Dwarf heroes to the mix.
With the Banners of War Expansion, I feel there are plenty of units. Any additional units would call for a remake of the faction sheets too as having another add on sheet like BOW would clutter up the player area too much.
That being said, I'd like to see a single power unit for each of the factions. Call it a "king" if you will.
Heroes are off adventuring and can support battles. Commanders are heroes stripped of title and given a special ability(I don't even play with them since 2nd edition addressed the heroes in battle issue). I feel as though a "king" unit could really be great.
Thematically, I feel like the factions are leaderless. Yes I know YOU the player are the leader, but where's my token on the board!?
It could offer variants to victory conditions like kill the king and you instantly win, capture the king and win(take him/her back to your home realm), or something easier like kill the king and get a dragon rune.
Hell, even having the king in play can give you a dragon rune. Treat it like you would a BOW development card and have the initiative, special ability, and hp's on the card. Counts as 2 strength, 1 if routed. I can do this all day!
All in all the expansion would be say 6 new heroes (2 good 2 bad and 2 neutral), 4 high quality (say like that of descent) king miniatures, 4 king development cards, and a mini rule book. $30 price tag or thereabouts?
I suppose this could always be home brewed if FFG doesn't like my money...
