Daqan got a better Hex unit, but an arguably minor other unit in the expansion (the mages are neat, but not really good at dealing damage if that's what you want).Latari got a Hex unit, which they didn't have before, but it's kind of weak, and their new rectangle unit, which can be strong, is somewhat dependent on how you use them.
Uthuk got a circle unit which is kinda cool, but about on par with Warlocks (a little different, but not too strong). Their new Hex unit is kinda cool, but doesn't dwarf the Chaos Lord.
Waiqar got a Rectangle unit (they didn't have one before) which is OK, and a new Hex unit which is probably a bit stronger than the Death Knight.
Really, the only two potential "power creep" units are Hexagons (Daqan and Waiqar), and since they tend to be harder to recruit anyway they haven't really hurt that much. If nothing else, they just seem to "replace" at that point, rather than "add to", since it's not that super common to have more than 4 hexagons on the board at a time. (Not unheard of, of course, but in dozens of plays, it just isn't that frequent for us).
For me, I've found that interestingly enough, the Siege Tower units tend to be much better at defense in a stronghold than offense, especially if you get a couple of them together.
