The original version came with exploration tokens, too. I don't have the revised edition to verify the exact counts are the same, but the coffin box edition definitely had them.
The expansion came with a few more.
If your coffin box edition didn't have them, then you were missing some pieces. Unless you are referring to something else when you say "exploration tokens", of course :) The ones I'm referring to are the ones that have either a 1 or a 2+ on the back, and are placed face-down during setup and revealed when a hero ends its movement during the Quest phase.
The only "extra" components that the revised edition has that the original didn't have is the victory cards (which are the same as the Road to Victory cards from the expansion).
