Yes, the victory condition in the revised edition is exactly the same as the "Road to Victory" variant. Basically, in the revised edition, what was once an alternate victory condition introduced by the expansion became the standard victory condition.
You could, of course, still play with the original edition's victory conditions, too, where you win immediately upon possessing enough runes. It makes for a shorter game, but sometimes it does make the ending somewhat abrupt.
