Good points, everyone.Eclipse is a little more like a spreadsheet or balancing the cheque book. What really bugs me about eclipse is the deterministic effect of techs, tile distribution, and VP for combat. Just feels like you play the best game you can and hope the game doesn't hose you.
It's not a bad game, in fact with the right people it's quite passable...I just always wish I was playing TI3 instead.
Runewars really is fun, 2 games cleverly meshed into 1, and I forgive some of the randomness BECAUSE it's fun (and it reminds of me TI3). I never wish I was playing something else when this is on the table!
