I figured I'd try tackling some of the questions here that do have changes in the revised edition, just for your information. I'm not saying this is the definitive "correct" way to play the game.steveg700 wrote:
5) If a player has no quests left, what else is a hero good for? I know Banners of War added a rule that allows them to participate in battle. Is that pretty much their two functions?
In the revised rules, heroes can now support in battle. If you have a hero present in a hex where a battle is occurring, you can declare that hero to be supporting one of your unit types. When that unit type draws fate cards during the battle, they draw one extra card for each hero supporting them. Then the player chooses to discard a number of those fate cards equal to the number of extra cards drawn. Basically, this gives you more consistency in your draws by allowing you to discard any blanks. A supporting hero cannot be affected by damage and routs, but if your army loses and you must retreat, the hero must retreat (and be routed) in the same hex as the rest of your army.

7) For purposes of tallying strength, are all standing units considered to only contribute one strength? Yes, I've read the tallying strength rules, but thought there might be something I'm overlooking to differentiate the strength of a footman from a dragon (guess the latter's more likely to be alive when tallying time comes 'round....).
In the revised edition, hexagon units now contribute strength to the battle even if routed. It's not a huge difference, and it's still only one strength, but at least it's worth something.
