If there are to be more races added to Runewars they should come separately from the existing products.If FFG had pulled a nasty trick like you suggest, they would have lost a lot of customers. The original edition had superior components to the revised edition so being "forced" to downgrade by such a terrible trick would have been unforgivable.
Remember you can shear a sheep every day but you can only skin him once.
