I don't think this is the point... it's just a question of opportunity cost, and there are lots of great games out there which fall within the classic games night 'one meat plus one filler' format.

Chaos in the Old World, for example, also feels epic, albeit a different type of epic, but falls within 2 hours. I think it's because it gets to the meat of combat, intrigue and trickery so quickly and efficiently.

I guess the previous comment hits it on the head. This becomes an 'event' game, for special games days. But given how rare those days are, and the competition any game faces to make it to one of those days, Runewars becomes a real shelf-sitter...

I haven't given up hope yet, though.
