It's easy to tweak Runewars' length by reducing the seasons or required runes for victory by one, or by allowing victory to be claimed instantly rather than holding it for a year. Even without these adjustments, my wife and I clock in games consistently under 3 hours, which I consider the perfect length for a meaty game. Keep at it and you'll be rewarded with a great thematic, interactive strategy game.If push comes to shove though, and you want a shorter, more elegant strategy game, I'd recommend Twilight Struggle as a replacement candidate. But really try to give Runewars a fair shake first, it's an awesome game.
