Yes, you might lose out on resources in the long run, but for right now, you get double the resources from the land you're desolating (I'm assuming you're strip mining it or clear-cutting it or razing it). You get to add the resources of that land into your pool immediately, but it won't produce resources in the future. It is for a mad rush strategy. Get tons of resources now to get lots of tactics cards and units and influence, win (or conquer enough land) before Autumn knocks my resources back down.
Thanks for clarifying what I thought, Matt. It's a strategy I would use in my "6 and win" game but not in the newer "Road To Victory" (which BANNERS and REVISED now uses) game. You destroy your resources, gain enough Runes to win so you declare, try to hang on for the win as everyone comes after you, you don't win and pray that you don't have to adjust your dials and can't ever call a Harvest.
I haven't played enough games with BANNERS to see it happen yet. Anyone else see it done in a game?
