They are totally different games.I would not really call eclipse a 4x game. It is a resource management/efficient scoring engine eurogame with a space theme.
runewars is a dudes on the map ill take your crap for the win kind of game.
So depending on your style of play.
IMHO Runewars needs some house rules to be worth playing. The expansion helps here.
