Just watched a review of RW by Tom Vasel and Sam Healy and they didn't have much good to say. It's on my shelf still in shrink and I'm still just as enthused to play it as the day it arrived (just hard to find 3 hours). From those among you who have played RW and saw the review, I'm curious about your reactions, especially his criticism of battles being tedious and the heroes not adding much to the game. I emailed Tom asking if he thought Banners of War fixed any of his concerns. He said he had not played it and didn't intend to.
Does it really matter what some guy think about some game?
I'll tell you this - beauty is in the eye of beholder.
Personally, I don't give a damn about game reviews - much more prefer watching walktrough videos. Those speaks much more about game overall and helps me decide if I should buy game or not.
As for Runewars - I totally disagree with Dice Tower review; Runewars is great game with plenty of strategies and decisions. The only thing I agree with aforementioned review is absence of mountains in revised edition - it is really hard to notice red borders during play.
Also heroes add to this game a lot - they are nice touch to the game giving another layer of strategy and important decisions, yet perfectly fitting thematically.
