Hope to not get burned over this.... But we play Runebound and Conquest of Nerath instead of this mish mash.

The first is a roleplaying high fantasy story that unfolds, and can be retold.
The second is a no-nonsense all nonsense dice rolling fest, where strategy is essential, but the Gods' favour even more.

It's not war unless you roll piles of customized dice! Dice tell a story - every roll drops a clue of the life of the characters embodied by plastic or wooden cubes.

I also tend to find the narrative in even the most dry puzzle Euro - I'm the soundeffects guy that makes the "Whoosh" sounds when he does actions and livens up the table.

I was in doubt for a long time - not having filled my world scale dudes on a map niche in my collection yet - and ultimately chose CoN. Much easier to teach to a new group. Scales unbelievably well with 2 or 3 or 4 players, because it's the same game.

Runebound ditto, never play with 4 or more players. 3 is a sweet spot, but equally enjoyable as a 2 player game. And, worst case scenario, you can even play it solo.

Getting Runewars now would be overkill - I have a phobia of owning 2 games that fill the same niche, but one is left on the shelves, and the other the favourite.

Unless I'm seriously mistaken?
