Also what the hell is there to simplify apart from maybe the hero rules (which are almost a subgame.)What the hell is so hard about this game? The rules are all on the cards! Pick a card, do what it says. If it's the lowest card infront of you do the second half as well. Then draw a card, do what it says.
That's it.
Streamlining this design is like asking for a simplified Ticket to Ride which only has one train color.
