Dumbing down the game may make it more accessible to more casual gamers, but it would kill the appeal for many people as well. There are other games that may suit that type of gamer more.
It wouldn't kill the appeal for anyone, as the current rules will still exist.
And streamlining does not always mean dumbing down.
For those that get to play and enjoy that game, that's awesome, and no one can take that away from you.
For others who feel there's something in here that could be great for them, but requires less obtuse rules and shorter gameplay (ie don't have 5 hours for their first game), perhaps it could benefit from an alternate simplified ruleset.
