I agree on that Runewars being the far superior game but..they're two very different beasts. In Runewars the units combat and tactics is 80%of the game, there isn't much diplomacy even if playing with four, it is very mechanical(not a negative).

WK on the other hand has politics, bluff, diplomacy, bribery, outmaneuvering and a lot of tension. The game cannot be played with 2,no matter what houserules or expansions you add..the game cannot be played with 2 and, in my opinion,3 is also pushing it.

With 4+ players the game is a lot of fun,I can actually say that the most fun we ever got out of a game is with Warrior Knights, but at the biggest expense, which is time.It may take a lot for the game to actually start if you're not using Crown and Glory, which I consider a must, it and all the other variants that come with the game and expansion.I can also say that you must understand the system which could take 2 or 3 games, depending who you play with, in order to understand how many other things may threaten the "king's" position at any time, how to defend your stonghold, etc. In my opinion both are great games, I don't find them similar at all.

I will say go with Runewars, great game out of the box infinite replayabilty, a lot of fun, a fantasy brain-burner, because it's got a lot of depth, you'll be finding new ways and combos between different units and tactics and heroes and..what a game..

Warrior Knights is the perfect medieval partygame for hardcore ameritrash players that can spend a whole night talking trash, bribing, decapitating opposing' noble's heirs, cooperating and backstabbing each other.A great game but not by today's standards. I love both.

Runewars is driven by a very intuitive actions system and the core mechanics allow you to easily fight your opponents from round 2.WK's core mechanics and subsystems will never allow for a constant beating between players because you must attempt to keep every city you get, so it won't revolt, your mercenaries may desert, they need to be paid, you need to have faith so you don't feel the wrath of god etc.In runewars there is feeding which is not something you're constantly worrying about and Influence which you should get whenever the opportunity arises. So..you must ask yourself, do I like an obstacle course shooting ranges, councils and alliances or do I want a long course with a proper beatdown and a little bit of diplomacy and adventure?
