I haven't played both, so can't give a complete comparison, but it depends on what kind of game you are looking for.My understanding is Warrior Knights is a lot closer to Game of Thrones than Runewars is. Runewars is more of an area control strategic empire building game, less focused on diplomacy and alliances and more on just outmaneuvering your opponents.
I like Runewars in that it is fun with 2, 3, and 4 players. Different tactics with 2, but it's just as fun. I think Warrior Knights would lose something (or may not be playable without heavy house rules, perhaps?) with only 2.
If you play with 6 a lot, you won't get that with Runewars, unfortunately. But if your group is more often closer to 4, then you could find it to be very enjoyable. Once you learn the rules, the game flows pretty well, and the various complexities work together nicely.
Runewars is one of my all-time favorite games. It's got a lot of depth to it, even without the expansion.
