I agree with Budgernaut, RuneAge really is the ¨Light¨ version of Runewars.

It´s the same designer, same setting, same races, same units. They also have the following in common: resources,
tactics cards, neutrals, Home Realms, Neutral Cities. The Combat is pretty similar, because you need to combine different kinds of units for maximal effect.

At the same time, the one thing that makes them so different is the mechanics.

I really recommend RuneAge, nice solo-game, a lot of tension, deckbuilding mechanic used properly to fit the theme.

It works best with 3-4 Players and it´s also very good with 2(same as Runewars).

If you decide to get Rune Age, also pick the expansion, it makes the game perfect.

Things missing:
The Board
The Heroes
Food, Wood,Stone
Seasons(Replaced by the Scenario decks)
The Bidding
Objective Cards
Quest Cards
The Player Boards
Fate Deck
297 Minis
And of course, the Mountains

The Runewars scenario really reminds me of THE Runewars.

I can´t recommend it enough.

Thanks for this recommendation. I will do some research on this.
