Yes, there is no denying the value of having influence - or at least more influence than your opponents do so you can outbid them. I have found it more valuable in 3p or 4p games than 2p. With 2p, whoever has the military advantage will simply keep pushing hard until they completely kill the other player, the high influence may help the weaker militarily player to slow down the stronger one, but I haven't seen it be strong enough to win the game. So, I've always tried to have my troops maxed out and hitting the other player hard as I can in 2 player. You don't have to guard your flanks as much, so you usually can play more aggressively than if you have someone else waiting to do a nasty flank attack in a 3p or 4p game.↧
