This is a strategy I imagined that allows to create tremendous amounts of influence in one year (6or more). This works best with Daqan or Latari
There often comes a point in a game where you will want to generate very quickly large amounts of influence, be it to safeguard your final rune that you expect to appear during a bid, accomplish a objective or pull off some nasty combo.
Here is the orderset I use for this:
Spring: Harvest. The supremacy bonus allows you to reap 2 influence from the diplomat you built previously. Daqan and Latari should consider building a diplomat early as it can. E very powerful. If you are in BoW you should also consider a development if it does not harm your military too much (e.g. Elmhall stables as Latari for MOAAR INFLUENCE)
Summer: Recruit: this allows you to not fall behind excessively militarly and become a prime target for your opponent(s)
Fall:Rally supports: usually nets 1-4 influence depending on your cities. Also allows you to recruit a hero. Heroes have great synergy with influence heavy tactics as more influence allows you to recruit them better, take better advantage of them (coercion, wandering merchant, favor of the Sorcerer's council etc..) and quickly generate runes through Captain of the League of Heroes. Also, take influence instead of tactics.
Winter: Acquire power that will usually net 2-4 influence and allow to acquire a title take Primarch if you do not have it already(that means you suck )

I have already gernerated !12! influence in one year using the Latari (2 from Diplomat, 1 from Elmhall stables, 2 from Primarch, 2 from Fall, 3 from Acquire power, 2 from Rally support) !

This is for us a rather recurrent strategy for both players in 2p games where military (units, developments and strongholds) is quite equal and no-one is willing to take the risks to attack or in games with more players in which one player was successful in creating a good chokepoint, allowing him to develop peacefully.

Of course this strategy should only be used in Stalemates situations and is less effective (and useful) with the Evil factions. Runewars is all about taking the opportunities that are given to you. If you see that your opponent's military position is weaker than yours, you should attack him and steal his runes and cripple him, not collect influence!
