That's too bad your wife won't play for more than two hours… that's probably about 1/3 of the time it takes to complete a game. If you have the space, maybe you could leave the game set up over several days and just play a little here and there. I'm glad you two enjoyed it overall though.
That's a good suggestion. I wish I did have that kind of space. The problem isn't so much the space, I guess, as it is my two little terrors finding it and wrecking the board.

If you play with the old victory rules, a 2 hour game should definitely be feasible. Granted, my brother and I played a LOT so we had a lot of it down, but prior to the change of victory conditions, almost all of our 2 player games fell in the 90-120 minute range.
I did feel like it went faster than I expected. I think you're right that with more experience, it will go even faster. Truth be told, I'm no expert at this game yet. A lot of the downtime in our game was her waiting for me to remember what happens next. :D Hopefully we'll both get faster with more practice.
She had been intimidated by this game for a long time after having seen me spend hours on it with her brothers and my brother. Having finally got it to the table I think will go a long way to making it more likely to hit the table again.
You know what's really strange? I think she likes Runewars better than BattleLore 2E. I totally expected BattleLore to be quicker and easier, but she didn't seem to enjoy that one as much.
