I have not played Kemet, but I have played Cyclades. The first time I played Cyclades I thought, "that was cool. I really enjoyed that." The first time I heard about Runewars I thought, "a 4x fantasy game? I have to check this out!" I did research on RW and fell in love with it. It is the theme that drives me to Runewars most. I also like how all the mechanics work together as well.
With all that said, I completely agree with all the other points made about Runewars. The rules book is hefty (although there are great aides here on the 'Geek). The play time for the game is longer than 3-4 hours. Typically I play three player games. They run about 5-6 hours. Due to the game's complexity and length, it doesn't get to the table often, and Cyclades or Kemet might see more table time.
I doubt you can go wrong though. If you think you can get any of these games played even a little bit, they would be worth the purchase.
