I would not worry about the learning curve. Just changing the order cards and a couple of rules is not that complicated for experienced players, really. I recommend you should have played the base game several times before doing ANY fan created scenarios anyway. I think changing the order cards is going to create a distinct new flavor instead (just as I think changing the season cards in your Rise of the Dragon Lords will create a distinct flavor).

Regarding the comment about the power of the new order cards, remember that the overlord is up against 3 other allied players and is using all four order cards of a year in order to gain the effect you described.

With that said, I think there is much testing and tuning to do, so if you still think they are un-balanced (they probably are in many regards), keep those comments coming.


Well, for the learning curve, if I make it too complex to play the OL, then I will always end up playing the OL. When our group plays 1 vs all type games like Descent: Journeys in the Dark or Middle-Earth Quest I end up playing the single bad guy. So, I am trying to make it so that any player in our group could play as the OL. Maybe the simple fact that its 1 vs many requires the best player to play the one. I will have to find time this summer to make a playable set of rules and try it out - even solo to test it.
