FAQ doesn't mean anything. BSG is a good example actually... 1 year between the first two expansions... 3 years before Daybreak finally dropped. All of us had given up.
An update to a 2ed is a commitment to the franchise. It's normal for subsequent expansions to get further and further apart. We can only help by continuing to play it and talk about it and getting people to buy it.
Expansions are only unlikely for FFG games that lose their designer (Android), never got an expansion released for it (Gears of War, Middle-Earth Quest) or those that have had intimations (at events, cons etc) that FFG has moved on (Middle-Earth Quest).
