It sounds like your group turned Runewars into a multi-player solitaire euro - first time I've ever heard of that. A great way to get your runes (and to stop your opponents winning) is to pinch runes from their lands and their heroes. And you don't have to fight those neutrals, a bit of diplomacy will have them join your cause and then suddenly your forces have increased rapidly.↧
