I also recommend the revised rules.There are really only a few changes (which are summarized in a 1 page .pdf from FFG). Take the rules changes more as an errata - and mind the change of the sorcerers ability of the Latari elves. It makes them actually desirable to have :)
Overall it makes the game (even) better. No need to only play with first edition rules.
@mvl4d: heroes were able to move with strategize before. However a support of a battle was not possible at all.
