I strongly suspect from this review that you will like Twilight Imperium. The big problem with Twilight Imperium is that it takes so long to play and you have to set aside a day for it. With your brothers being your group that wan't be as big a problem for you. Twilight Imperium is basically Runewars on steroids and does more of what you are talking about in this review.

Randomness adds to the narrative, because it adds drama. Will I pull off that unlikely attack or will I fail to beat the odds and have my last hope slide down the tubes.

Good review. You may enjoy some Euro's that are less solitaire and have more interaction. The ones you mention do not have a lot of interaction.

I actually make jokes about Runewars being TI lite squared.
My structure goes something like this:
Twilight Imperium (Third Edition)/with expansions
StarCraft: The Board Game/with expansion
Runewars/with expansion

I will sometimes put Warrior Knights/with expansion in between starcraft and TI.

All of them are amazing games. All of them quite enjoyable. All of them do well with theme(the theme for WK is a bit drier..but still there).

I also recommend Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game.
