I also love Runewars, and have found that games like it (War of the Ring, Dune, Twilight Imperium, Eldritch Horror more recently) immerse you in the world that the game creates. The game's mechanics are integral to the theme, everything builds a sense of place in the player. That's what I love.

Oh, and can we possibly start using "Thematic" in place of "Ameritrash"? I really, really hate that word.
