BGG'ers,
I am interested in purchasing an exploration game for the wife and I. This game is an obvious contender because I really enjoy the modular board and element of exploration. What I think I might not like is the element of combat.
Back in the original Runebound it was more like an MMORPG where players were racing around doing quests and PvP was not important nor encouraged. It was basically a fantasy questing race for players to acquire gear, level up, and take down the bid baddie!
What other games out there are like this? Questing, leveling up, exploration and discovery, but no PvP?

Not much exploration here, definitely PvP combat. I don't think this game fits your criteria at all (although I think it's a great game and plays very well solitaire for me using a simple variant posted here ).
I would recommned any of these games, just pick your theme: Castle Ravenloft, Wrath of Ashardalon, or Legend of Drizzt. No PVP, Modular Board, Exploration, and (if the wife doesn't like it) soloable with no variants needed.
If you're into much older (and pricy) games, there's also DeathMaze, Citadel of Blood, The Sorcerer's Cave, Mystic Wood, and Magic Realm.
