I am surprised to hear this since FFG is really good about helping players replace missing cards or game pieces, and I do not think the components changed between editions. Normally if you email their customer service and ask, they should be able to send you the minis--it isn't as if you're request 3D mountains or other edition-specific components.Link is here! (And note, even though the FAQ says that it's only for "new games" in the past, they've been pretty flexible about not necessarily asking how you obtained the game. I even wrote them explaining that the kids in my gaming club spilled soda on an entire flare deck in Cosmic Encounter and asked if I could purchase a replacement and they mailed me an entire new deck at no charge.)
Given your situation, I might have a friend request replacements for a "new" copy of Runewars.
