I thought the only substantial differences (excluding the minor rule changes which are available online) were that the plastic mountain range tokens were removed and the box was reduced in size.
This is correct. A few rule changes, fairly minor (though they can have noticeable impact on strategy and gameplay), but they are fully compatible with the original edition components.
Personally, and while it's kind of nit-picky, I think the term "revised edition" is perfectly apt, as most of FFG's "2nd edition" remakes are drastically and noticeably different. (Runebound may be close, but even that was pretty significant by having 2E use 2d10 instead of d20, as many of the cards had to be changed to accommodate the different odds).
But for the most part, buying Revised Edition you'll get a very nearly identical experience as the original run. And you can definitely "upgrade" to revised edition by simply printing the new rules and being aware of a few component changes (a few cards and the Latari Sorceress ability, primarily).
So given that FFG removed a bunch of components from the previous edition do you think the game is over priced? Or fair value?
