Meet the Players:
as the... Latari Elves
as the... Daqan Lords
My brother Zeb as the..... Uthuk Y'lann
Myself as the... Waiqar the Undying
The starting Map:
As the undying I quickly noted that I was surrounded by several regions with great food stores. I knew that if the Waiqar were able to reach our maximum 8 food and bring in a bountiful harvest I would be able to bring in a precious dragon rune! And start my desolation of this land! I just had to deal with a few unruly beastmen and Giants! They would join my cause.... or die.....
The Latari Elves were in desperate need of food and early on snatched up stores to support their legions.
The Uthuk spotted a second city within their filthy grasp and rushed out to conquer it.
Meanwhile the Daqar Lords quietly spread their influence as widely as they could.
Starting with low influence but great tactics, I knew that my potential for grabbing runes was limited, until I could spread my influence over all of the land. I sent my servent, Grey Ker, into the elven lands on a quest to bring back a timmering shard to grab a dragon rune.
Meanwhile, the pesky Uthuk stumbled upon my dragon rune that I had thought was safe from prying eyes. The Uthuk managed to grab the precious rune and snatch it from the undead and bring it to their cursed lands.
My servant Grey Ker was successful in his endeavors he destroyed the fool sorcerer that stood in his way and found a timmering shard! I commanded him to bring it home as soon as possible, but he sought out another quest in the Elven lands as he greedily grabbed more treasures.
The Uthuk kept pushing their influence ever closer, threatening to bring down the wrath of the Waiqar on them! They scrambled close into a region that was controlled by giants, and through some dark magics they destroyed the giants and summoned a great fortress, but this was much too close to the Waiqar, and I was having none of it. Nothing stands before the Waiqar! The Waiqar struck and quickly before the Uthuk could fortify their fortress. The Waiqar were victorious in their puruit, but through some dark magics the Uthuk managed to destroy the very fortress they had summoned!
While the Uthuk was foolishly displaying their dark arts in the land of the Waqair, the Daqan Lords were preparing for a major campaign into the Uthuk realms.
Seeing the impending invasions the Uthuk and Daqan fought several battles on their frontlines. They both then built fortresses very near each other and started massing troops. They were digging in for the long war.
All the while the sly Latari Elves were biding their time. Slowly taking land, but not too overzealously, they were massing forces and more importantly amassing influence.
It was whispered throughout the lands that the Daqan were looking to recruit the lowest of scum creatures. It was whispered that the control of such creatures would give the Daqan some sort of power, and their leader was demanding it. Knowing the nearby denizens of these pathetic creatures the Waiqar made sure that none were fielded in battle.
Another strange rumor floated about, that the Uthuk would gain some dark knowledge from the slaying of all the Dragons in the land. Fearing what this might mean, the Latari enslaved a massive dragon and kept it far from harm.
In moving slowly towards the Latari, I was able to examine a false Dragon Rune. In an attempt to fool the elves I made it look as if this rune was real. This proved beneficial and a downfall. The Latari more than took the bate, they slammed into my forces downing some of my fiercest creations! The waste of such good tools was almost enough for me to not enjoy the cries of despair from the Latari when they realized the Dragon was fake!
In a fit of anger the Elves turned far from their true inner nature and burned down every tree and resource from the region. They knew that the undead would be back for vengeance!
At this point in time, my undead heart was writhing with anger, so much resources and effort and so little dragon runes! I needed another way to gain them, as I could see that the Waqair was far behind in Runes. It was time for conquest! I sent out Grey Ker into the elvish lands to scout out the armies, he stumbled upon an elvish hero that was near death and he foolishly attacked the wounded hero. While trying to pull his knives out and actually finish off the wounded hero, the hero jumped up and sent a fireball directly for Grey's head...he never did report back with troop numbers....
The elves used their vast amount of flying creatures to pass over a mountain pass and attempt to steal a dragon rune from the unsuspecting Daqan Lords. Using the vast food stores I had and the distraction of a Southern campaign with the Daqan, I fielded a large army and attacked back grabbing land back from the Elves. In order to fully invade the elven lands I used a spell pestilence and the harshness of winter when the elves were at their weakest to attack!
All this while the Uthuk and Daqan were dueling it out. Taking turns smashing into one an other. It was a truly gloriously bloody battle, which was evnetually falling to the Daqan as they used their massive ore stocks to field their mightiest of creatures.
The Uthuk was pushed back, but far from over...far..from over.
For once it seemed as if the scales were tipping back into the grasps of the Waqair. Our forces were strong. Our influence was great, we were grabbing extra dragon runes from our vast sources using influence. We fielded a new hero to battle the enemy.
Our campaign was about to begin, and we recieved a desperate mission. Destroy someone's homeland and recieve great power! This fit perfectly into my evil plans!
I even managed to establish a tenuous treaty with the Daqan Lords. We both realized that our best interests were solidified in the destruction of the Latari Elves and we both began amassing huge armies to begin our campaign.
I say tenuous alliance, because the Waiqar are never truly at peace with anyone. There is no peace! Not even in death! And so I saw an oppurtunity to grab a dragon Rune from a force of Daqan Lords and I sent out my fierce bone dragons to do it. They were almost their when they were interecepted by a pathetic Uthuk barbarian! Enraged at the missed oppurtunity I turned and smashed the Uthuk city that lay just outside my borders!
Ah, but sometimes the best laid plans can be twisted by the unknown. The Latari had seen the impending dual headed invasion headed straight for their homeland and had sent out heros to find a solution.
The elvish hero managed to find one of my precious Dragon runes and whisk it away to my border near the Uthuk.
The Uthuk recieved a message from the elves that my rune was located near the border! My unprotected southwestern border! The Uthuk attacked killing precious undead creations!
My campaign into elven lands was foiled. I had to protect what was mine! I had to score the points I knew I could win, not attempt a campaign in which victory was not ensured.
My force of undead turned on the Uthuk and destroyed his forces. Ending any hope to attack the Latari. This also resulted in leaving the undead lands open to the Latari for exploitation.
A seasonal event led to a dragon rune being pulled from the grasp of the Latari, which the Daqar quickly snatched up. Scrambling to protect his new found Dragon rune, the Daqar forgot to protect a far inland Dragon Rune, he thought this rune was completely protected but when the waters froze over during winter a small force of Uthuk plunged across the frozen waste and managed to secure the Dragon Rune.
Finally after seven long years, the dust settled. The power of the Dragon Runes was granted to the detestable Latari Elves!
The undead may be down, but we are forever! We can wait til eternity and we will return to the realms of Terrinoth, the elves may have won this one, but in death and in life the Waqair will be victorious!!!
Stats:
Latari - 6 Dragon Runes
Uthuk - 4 Dragon Runes(5th within their grasp, but abandoned in their struggles against the Waiqar and Daqan)
Daqan - 4
Waiqar - 4
