This is the thing about another Runewars expansion. You have to ask: What would you put in it? I can think of a few possibilities, but few of them are game-changing.

(1) More hexes/mapboard pieces
(2) More races, and the possibility of a 5- or 6-player game.
(a) Incidentally, there's the starting Tactics Card/Influence problem that's been noted.
(3) An alternate/expansion to the fate deck.
(4) Just more of all and sundry. More quests, more items, more tactics cards, etc.

The only two major things I can think of adding to the game that might really make a significant change come from the original Battlemist: Spellcasting and Ships. The original rules for Battlemist included rules for using the Stars (the precursor to Runes) as replenishable spell-powers. The Sails of War expansion introduced ships to the game, but it wasn't very well done.

Otherwise, any expansion to Runewars is likely to end up as "More Stuff." And that's nice, but not particularly exciting.
